Made in Canada: Supporting Canadian businesses promotes the development of our economy and stronger communities. All ChocoSol products are made from whole foods in Toronto, sourcing ingredients directly with farmers in Southern Mexico or Southern Ontario. All Mexican ingredients from various ChocoSol products (i.e. cacao, vanilla, sweeteners, amaranth) come from indigenous communities in Chiapas.

Energy Efficient: Helps reduce or conserve energy use as a result of either efficient design or manufacturing. This chocolate is made at an innovative 0-waste kitchen made from 80% up-cycled materials. ChocoSol is a pedal powered social enterprise. This includes pedal powered cacao grinding and blending technologies, as well as all transportation to Grassroots (accomplished by bicycle cargo bikes).

Organic: Produced in whole or in part with third-party certified organic ingredients. All sweeteners in ChocoSol products are certified organic, and the cacao beans are in Certified Organic transition.

Ethically Made: Adheres to one or more commonly held fair trade principles (though not certified): fair wages, safe and healthy conditions, equal employment opportunities and financial and technical assistance to producers. ChocoSol trading principles can be described as Horizontal Trade. A relationship between communities, horizontal trade is based on friendship and mutual understanding. Rather than "helping" the poor in "developing" countries, horizontal trade reflects a reciprocal, mutually beneficial intercultural trade. It is about being well rooted in your place, while connecting to others rooted in their place. Closely related to subsistence cultures and cultivation of the earth, horizontal trade strives for accessibility, and non-alienation from the story and the people behind the product. Paying a fair price is not dictated by international markets for ChocoSol, but rather by the fruit of their relationships with growers and conscientious consumers.

Recycled: Made in whole, or in part from recycled ingredients and/or with recycled materials. Please recycle paper packaging when finished use.

Hand-made: Made with skilled craftsmanship and unparalleled care by dedicated artists. A commitment to reconnect with the local and human sources of our goods. ChocoSol works from whole ingredients, which often requires hand grinding, peeling, snipping and sorting of ingredients. They promote simple chocolate making techniques and technologies capable of being shared with other producer communities full of enthusiasm, but low on captial. With only a hand grinder, they have shown people how to make chocolate and to concoct recipes from locally available ingredients.

These fiery 75% dark chocolate bites have five varieties of Mexican chilis and an after bite that delights the senses!

Pairing the complimentary cacao tree and chili plants together in a Oaxacan-inspired concoction.

Five Chili Chocolate can stand alone as a treat, but also give your coffee some extra kick. Add it as your secret recipe in a favorite chili recipe.

There will be no tongue burning here, but Five Chili Chocolate is spicy. If you can tackle tabasco sauce though, you can handle this vegan friendly taste adventure.
