The filter uses a patented filtering media called KDF-55, which is a compound of copper and zinc, two dissimilar elements in a granular form that operate by the law of opposites to effectively remove over 90% of chlorine and varying amounts of lead, iron oxides, bacteria, hydrogen sulfide and other inorganic contaminants.

The KDF-55 filter will last over a year, based on two showers a day. That's 10 - 20 times longer than carbon filters.
